Here we go. My first blog...ever.
While most people are getting themselves up and running on facebook, i'm just getting around to creating a blog. Frankly, I'm not really interested in sending ballons or poking people or whatever it is you do on facebook. I'd rather simply share some of my thoughts and ideas about life, it's challenges, celebrations, questions and such. I suppose you can do that on facebook with a larger audience but I'm not really creating this blog for that reason. I suspect in time most of my friends, colleagues and family will have a chance to read through it. They may read things about me, or my beliefs, that might surprise them. At least I hope they do, or what would be the point.
So, Scot Dragon Brother. What's that all about ? It's not very creative, I'll admit, but it is very meaningful. "Scot Dragon" was my brother's email address and online identity.
His name was Antony David Crichton, my younger brother by 3 years.
I'm not sure what it really meant to him. He was living in scotland, hence the "Scot" prefix.
I think the dragon was a symbol of strength for him, although I'm not certain.
And so, Scot Dragon "Brother"... that's me. I told you it was not very creative.
This blog site will be, in part, a dedication to by brother Tony who took his own life in July of 2006. In time I will share the full story of how a bright, creative and humble man decided to cut his life short. But not today. I don't really know where to start with that.
A little about me;
My name is Don Crichton (Donald to about 4 people on the planet). I was born in Dumfrieshire Scotland in the mid 1960's and emigrated to Canada in 1970 with my parents, bother and sister. We orginally settled in Don Mills, north Toronto. Eventually my folks bought a house in Brampton, where is spent most of my years growing up. I now live in Pickering Ontario with a family of my own. Life is good.
Soon to come;
Photos, lectures, rants, pleas, cudos, links, sketches and other things you might find interesting.
check back from time to time and feel free to send me your thoughts.
